Yep, you'd be violating trademark and/or copyrights if you *sell* images or icons that belong to a company (or have been registered by anyone).
(I assume you mean btw that you're using letters spelling out New York Yankees, rather than any letters that are just associated with the Yankees... although the font used by the NY Yankees may also be a font they created and protected).

Yes, I believe that would be a trademark violation, provided the logo was trademarked or copyrighted.

e.g. I make my own wallets and often use things that I like to decorate them (NY Yankees letters) if I were to sell these wallets would I be violating copyright/trademark laws?
